This large pictorial book contains scenic views of volcanoes on the Big Island of Hawaii and of volcanic activity at Kilauea. All of the photography takes place within or near the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The photos were taken during the many phases of what has become Hawaii's longest recorded eruption within modern times. The eruption began on January 3 1983 and has continued for over ten years.
This book is not a documentary... the message is purely visual. It is designed to show you many interesting views of the volcano. The book begins at the highest of elevations and ends at the sea level without regard to the chronology of the eruptions many episodes.
